Alina Miller, MSW, LCSWA

If you’re here, you may be looking for someone who can support you and your family with warmth, authenticity, and unconditional acceptance. I value hearing people’s life stories and understanding the full context of their lives as part of the healing process. I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan, and I particularly enjoy working with children and adolescents aged 3 - 22, parents/caregivers, college students and adult women.

For adolescents and adults, I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps people to better define their personal values, accept their own thoughts and feelings without self-judgment, and take steps towards positive change. I special in women’s health, perinatal women’s health. I also integrate components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. For younger children, I enjoy using art and play-based approaches that honor children’s inherent creativity and ability to solve problems.

In addition to my work in the office, I am currently undergoing Still Birth and Bereavement Doula training to become an acute support to parents enduring perinatal loss. I am a parent myself, and a former NICU mom. I currently live in Chapel Hill and I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing video games, reading, and cooking.
