Tyler Jarrett, M.Ed, LCMHC

Starting, or restarting, therapy can be scary and uncomfortable, and it looks a little bit different for everyone. I view therapy as a collaborative experience, and I think good therapy happens when the client is safe, so I prioritize forming a safe, genuine therapeutic relationship with each of my clients; this does not mean you will never feel uncomfortable in therapy – often therapy can be challenging and may not feel good in the moment, but when done in a safe environment, it allows for growth. The amount of time needed in therapy can vary, but I do not believe that therapy should last forever.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, life transitions and relationship issues. I am also trained in EMDR (an evidence-based approach often used in treating trauma but can also be used with other mental health issues). I use a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, strengths-based and dynamic theory, while being grounded in a humanistic-existential framework. That usually doesn’t mean a lot unless you’ve studied Counseling theories, so if you have, great! If not, I hope to give you an idea of how I work and if I may be a good fit for you.

When I’m not seeing clients, I could be reading, playing tennis or board games, but I am probably making bad jokes to make my wife laugh or giving airplane rides to my nephew and niece while I can still pick them up.
